The Reality of Self Love

She first learned to love herself so that she could be loved

That’s my favorite quote, it means a lot of to me.

Truth is you don’t necessarily need to love yourself in order to be loved, it’s more so loving yourself sets the tone and standard for how we allow someone to love us.

I’ve been there where I’ve settled, put up with straight craziness and deserved more than I was given. I know a lot of women also have this same story, and it’s really sad.

Because honestly self love is a constant journey, it’s layer after layer of just dealing with your stuff. It’s not always fun.

It’s hard and sometimes it’s things you don’t really want to face.

It’s also not a one size fits all type of thing, everyone’s definition and journey when it comes to self love is different. We can get caught up in the glam side of things, yoga, tea and bubble baths.

Nope, not always that soothing. It’s ugly crying, feeling lonely and sometimes overwhelmed.

But on the flip side, it’s important to also learn what you enjoy while working on your self love journey. Because honey mama needs a little fun as well. Healing is not exciting, at least not to me. I love the after effect but going through it, whew it’s a lot to handle and some days I just CAN. NOT.

So I encourage you to try new things, find some fun and explore a bit.

Just as it’s important to dig deep into what makes us who we are, it’s also important to laugh, be happy and love in the process.
